The Union Public Service Commission or UPSC conducts the the UPSC IES/ISS 2025 examination, candidates must be between 21 and 30 years old as of August 1, 2025. For the Indian Economic Service (IES), a postgraduate degree in Economics, Applied Economics, Business Economics, or Econometrics is required. For the Indian Statistical Service (ISS), a bachelor's or master's degree in Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, or Applied Statistics is necessary.
Age Limit:
Candidates must be at least 21 years old and not more than 30 years old as of August 1, 2025.
This means they should have been born between August 2, 1995, and August 1, 2004.
Educational Qualifications:
IES (Indian Economic Service):
A postgraduate degree in Economics, Applied Economics, Business Economics, or Econometrics from a recognized Indian or foreign university approved by the Central Government.
ISS (Indian Statistical Service):
A bachelor's degree with Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, or Applied Statistics as one of the subjects, or a master's degree in the same fields, from a recognized Indian or foreign university approved by the Central Government.
Nationality:
Candidates must be Indian citizens.
Citizens of Nepal, Bhutan, or Tibetan who came to India before January 1, 1962, to settle permanently are also eligible.
Other Important Information:
General category candidates can attempt the exam a maximum of six times.
The exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
The selection process involves a written exam followed by a Viva-voce/Interview.
The IES and ISS exams are conducted separately.
